MultiVersus, the Warner Bros. IP platform fighter from Player First Games, is coming to an end on May 30.
On Friday, Player First revealed the game would receive its fifth and final season this Tuesday, February 4. The season will last until the end of May, after which MultiVersus gets delisted and its online functions rendered inert. After that date, players can redownload the game and access its offline functions “for the forseeable future.” Aquaman and Lola Bunny will join the roster with the new season, and the developer said they’ll be completely earnable through gameplay: the DC hero is relegated to the season’s first battle pass tier, and you can get Lola just by logging into the game.
“We want to thank every player and person who has ever played or supported MultiVersus,” wrote Player First. “All of us here have poured our heart and soul into this game. We will be forever grateful for the incredible support of the community throughout this journey.”

MultiVersus initially hit with its open beta back in 2022, which lasted for nearly a full year before Player First took it offline to complete development. The game came back with a vengeance in 2024 with a new look and more characters, but players had issues with its grind and monetization, plus changes made from beta to full release. This is the second of two live-service games from WB to stumble this year, following on from Rocksteady’s Suicide Squad going out with a muted bang back in January.
With MultiVersus going away, it’s unclear what this means for Player First. WB acquired the studio last year after the game’s relaunch, and this has been its sole credit. In 2022, game director Tony Huynh said the studio was unaffected by WB’s merger with Discovery—but after Rocksteady recently wiped its hands of Squad, both it and co-developer WB Games Montreal cut a sizable amount of their respective staff.
